The KWPN stallion Charmeur will miss this season’s  GMB Stallion Competition. The winner of the Pavo Cup and the previous edition of the stallion competition has to participate in the competition for another season according to the KWPN-rules, but due to a rider’s change the stallion temporarily steps back. The popular son by Florencio will be seen under the saddle of Madeleine Witte in the future.

Co-owner Nico Witte: “The stallion competition is meant to show the approved stallions to the breeders, but I think he has shown himself enough. Charmeur is unbelievably talented. Madeleine is preparing him for the Prix St. Georges.”

The KWPN studbook has now officially stated by a press release that Charmeur got a year deferment:

KWPN approved stallions have to participate in the Stallion Competition for two years. The stallion Charmeur has not fulfilled this obligation: he must participate another year. This season it is not possible because the owner has retired Charmeur from competition due to the training backlog caused by his dominant, some cheeky stallion behavior. This behavior was also reflected during the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, and was possibly caused by the busy season in which sport and breeding was combined.

Charmeur showed himself, earlier this year, during the intensive World Cup selection process without troubles. And also at the PAVO Cup he performed very well, he won the Cup in 2011 and 2012. Therefore the stallion got a one year deferment. The owner has committed that Charmeur will be redeem his commitment next year.
